Crafting Excellence

All of our baskets are handmade by the Gingerich family.

Jacob Gingerich was born near Essex, Tennessee. During his childhood, his family relocated from Tennessee to an Amish community near Kidron, Ohio, where they primarily engaged in farming. Jacob met his wife, Cevilla, who was born and raised in the Kidron area, and they married there. Despite their awareness of other families in the community who sustained themselves through basket weaving, the crowded craft landscape made it impractical for them to pursue it.

In 1999, Jacob's twin brother encouraged them to move to a neighboring Amish community on the Iowa-Missouri border, where several basket weaving families had already settled and were thriving. Feeling drawn to the opportunity to practice their craft, the Gingerich family decided to make the move. Supported by their new community, the Gingeriches honed their skills as basket artisans. Today, they proudly continue this tradition, passing down their expertise to their children and preparing to share it with future generations.
